Assured Shorthold Tenancies

The majority of tenancies will be Assured Shorthold Tenancies (AST’s). The key features of AST’s are:

• Must be the tenant’s main home
• Must be a person or group who rent the property
• The rent cannot be in excess of £100,000 per annum
• Not a resident landlord
• Have no more than 2 acres of agricultural land

Tenancies are usually for an initial fixed term of 6 or 12 months. When the fixed term has come to an end, the landlord is able to regain possession of the property by providing the tenant with two months written notice.
